Overview
An insulated aluminium front door: a machined and carved aluminium panel face over an insulated core, in a thermally broken aluminium frame, usually hung with one or two glazed sidelights. It is the entrance of an American house treated as a single engineered assembly rather than a slab plus a lockset, and the catalogue's twelve published designs run from plain matt-black leaves through vertical fluting, chevron and diagonal scoring to stacked glazed panes, in single and double-leaf versions.
Within the Essential line it is the odd one out, and deliberately so. Everything else on the line is a glazed sash on a 95 mm or 70 mm platform; this is a solid leaf with no series number, no depth in its name, and a different job — security and thermal performance at the entrance rather than daylight and ventilation. Against the made-to-drawing entry doors in the Signature line, which are detailed from your own elevation, this one is a catalogue of twelve designs with a published finish palette. That is the trade: less freedom in the elevation, a shorter and more predictable route to a door.
Frame and sash are 6060-T66 aluminium, the frame at 3.0 mm wall thickness or greater and the sash at 2.5 mm or greater. Between them run PA66GF glass-filled nylon thermal-break strips in 25 mm and 32 mm widths, with a central EPDM gasket on the closing face. The leaf is filled with a high-density phenolic board specified for sound and fire resistance, behind the carved aluminium panel and a foam layer. The catalogue calls the sealing arrangement quad-seal: EPDM sealing strips, tightly connected thermal-break profiles, bite-type door seals and the body filling working together.
Hardware is German-made concealed hinges — mortised into the leaf and frame, adjustable in three dimensions, and invisible when the door is shut — with a stainless steel multi-point lock that draws the leaf into the frame on bevel contact, and insulated threshold options at the sill. Twelve factory finishes are offered, coded rather than named, covering brushed woodgrains, embossed and hammered textures and brushed metals. Read the performance figures carefully: the catalogue prints six values without units or a cited test standard, and the U-factor and water figures shown in our specification table are converted from European test data, not NFRC-certified numbers.

Mounting and frame options
The frame type decides the rough-opening detail, the flashing and how much of the existing wall has to come out. Four are available; tell us the wall build-up and we will specify which one your opening needs.
The standard new-construction frame. The flange laps the sheathing so the unit sets and seals in one operation.
A 1 3/8" flange is available where the cladding build-up needs the extra reach.
Installs over an existing aluminum window frame, so the stucco exterior is left intact. No cutting back and repatching.
Available on selected window types — ask us which of your openings can take it before you price the stucco work.
For full removal, when the existing frame is rotten or damaged and has to come out entirely.
Sets into the existing rough opening, and arrives with the through-the-jamb holes pre-drilled and the screws supplied.
Straps fix to the frame, which lets the unit sit anywhere in the depth of the wall cavity rather than at a fixed setback.

Factory-joined combinations for large openings
Multi-unit combinations are joined in the factory and delivered as one assembly, so the joint is made under shop conditions instead of on a scaffold. The joining mullion is 1 1/8" (28 mm) wide and comes in three reinforcement grades, chosen by the height of the window it has to carry. The system is covered by a US patent.

Finishes
Powder-coat finishes to the standard RAL card, plus anodized options. Wood interiors are available in several species and interior finishes.
Exterior finish
The exterior is extruded aluminum cladding, which is why the finish schedule matters more here than the colour chart on a vinyl window: it is a powder coat on structural extrusion, not a surface tint.
19 finishes are available in total, including three pearlescent. Twelve are named here; ask us for the rest, or for a custom colour match.
Swatches are indicative only — reproduced from print, shown on your screen. Specify by RAL number, and ask us for a physical sample before you commit an elevation to a colour.
Lead Time
- Standard configurations, such as a 70-series double-glazed unit: 18 days in the factory from order. This is production time and does not include shipping.
- Special configurations: 3–5 weeks in production, also from order.
- Ocean freight: about 35 days to the U.S. West Coast, about 45 days to the East Coast.
