Nexwd limited warranty
Every Nexwd system is warranted by component — frame, hardware, insulated glass seal and finish each carry their own term. Terms below apply to product supplied to the trade; full written terms and conditions are provided with your order.
- Remedy is repair or replacement, at the manufacturer’s option.
- Colour match on a replacement part is not guaranteed. Finishes weather, and a new component may not match an installed one exactly.
- Labour is not covered. Removal, installation and re-installation costs are the owner’s responsibility.
Registering a warranty
Warranty support is handled through your Nexwd trade account or the dealer of record. Contact us with your order details to register or make a claim.
Contact us →Limited ten-year transferable warranty, with twenty years on glass and finish
The manufacturer warrants its aluminum frame windows and doors against workmanship and material defects from the date of purchase. Cover runs ten years on non-glass parts and twenty on the insulated glass unit and the powder-coated finish. It transfers from each owner to the next, not just once.
The coverage is not prorated
This is the part worth reading twice. Many window warranties reduce what they pay as the product ages, so a claim in year fifteen recovers a fraction of a claim in year two. This one does not: the benefit in the final year is the same as in the first, for each owner in turn. On a resale, that is a real transferable asset rather than a technicality.
What is covered, item by item
Materials and workmanship defects for ten years from the date of purchase, under proper use and installation. Where a defect occurs, replacement parts are provided at no charge.
Limit: Void if the aluminum surface is altered, repainted or stained.
Locking mechanisms, hinges, handles, rollers, open limiters and connecting bars, for ten years — against peeling, flaking, rusting, blistering and corrosion. Replacement parts provided at no charge.
The aluminum screen frame, for ten years, against peeling, flaking, blistering and corrosion. Replacement parts provided at no charge.
Twenty years against seal failure — specifically, defects causing material obstruction of vision from moisture or dust accumulating inside the sealed unit. The unit is replaced at no charge.
Limit: After twenty years, replacement may incur a charge. Condensation forming on the window from ordinary room humidity or a temperature differential is not a defect and is not covered — that is the glass doing its job at a cold surface, not the seal failing.
Ten years against glass panels breaking spontaneously — that is, with no impact and no one at fault, typically from natural settling or extreme thermal change. The document is explicit that spontaneous breakage is not itself a materials or workmanship defect, and covers it anyway.
Ten years against defects causing obstruction of vision, and against delamination — the interlayer separating from the glass.
Twenty years on aluminum components finished with AkzoNobel powder coatings, covering peeling, flaking, chipping, blistering and corrosion.
What is excluded
- Improper installation. This is the big one, and it is why the installation requirements below matter — a warranty claim on a unit installed out of square is a difficult conversation.
- Normal weathering, accidents, fire, flooding and acts of God.
- Glass shattering or screen damage caused by high winds or wind-borne debris, and damage caused by flying objects. Storm damage is an insurance matter, not a warranty matter.
- Condensation arising from ordinary indoor humidity or a temperature differential.
- Any unit whose aluminum surface has been altered, repainted or stained.
- Special, punitive, indirect, incidental or consequential damages of any kind.
How a claim works
- Submit the claim in writing, promptly. Delay weakens it.
- Include the product order number and state the nature of the defect specifically — "the window is faulty" will come back to you as a question.
- Attach photographs or video. The document explicitly accepts these as supporting evidence, and they usually settle a claim faster than an inspection visit.
- A reasonable period is allowed for inspection before the claim is determined.
- If validated, the defective part is repaired or replaced.
The limits, stated plainly
- The remedy is repair or replacement of the defective part, at the manufacturer’s discretion — not a refund, and not your choice of which.
- Colour matching on a replacement part is not guaranteed. On a weathered elevation, a new sash may not match its neighbours.
- Labour is not covered. Neither the manufacturer nor its distributors are responsible for removal, replacement, installation or reinstallation costs. On a high or difficult opening, that cost can exceed the part.
- This warranty supersedes all other express warranties.
Installation requirements that protect the warranty
Improper installation is the first exclusion, so these are not suggestions. Confirm them before the units arrive, not after.
- Rough opening should typically be 3/4" larger than the actual window or door size, frame to frame, in both width and height — per the approved shop drawings.
- The frame must be level, plumb and square within the opening.
- Fix with the integrated nailing flanges or with metal clips around the frame.
- For steel, ICF or concrete walls without wood bucks, use metal clips.
- For hinged doors and lift & slide doors, screw into the wall through the pre-drilled holes in the frame.
- A certified installer is recommended by the manufacturer.
