Signature Custom Entry Door

A made-to-drawing aluminum entry door. Panel layout, machining, glazing apertures and hardware positions are set from your elevation, so the front door can be detailed as a designed element rather than chosen from a stock range.

Configure your unit, then request a quote — we price it and reply, usually within one business day.

Overview

A made-to-drawing aluminium entry door, hinged rather than pivoted, offered as a library of around eighteen worked designs that are all treated as starting points — the panel layout, surface pattern, glazing apertures, cladding and hardware positions are set from the elevation rather than picked from a stock range. The designs span heavy fluted and grid-patterned panels, woodgrain faces, carved classical work and glazed lites with sidelights, but the construction underneath them is common.

Where the pivot door is a fixed family of three defined by its mechanism, this one is defined by its envelope, which changes with the design chosen. Maximum widths run from 2,000 mm on the narrowest designs through 2,100, 2,300 and 2,500 mm to 3,200 mm on the majority and 4,100 mm on the widest. Heights are 4,000 mm on most designs, 5,000 mm on the two built in the thinner series, and 6,000 mm on three of them — taller than anything else in the entry range. Two door series are built: a 105 series at 106 mm thick, hung on hinges, and a 95 series at 95 mm thick using an offset hinge. Because the envelope is design-dependent, the design has to be settled before the opening size is confirmed.

The construction is a thermally broken aluminium frame around a polyurethane foam-filled core, with the decorative surface applied as a separate outer skin over that core — which is why the pattern can change so completely between designs without changing the door's behaviour. Multiple weatherseal strips run around the leaf and frame, the profiles are imported extrusions, and the leaf is hung on a stainless steel high-precision hinge. Locking is a German G-U multi-point strip housed in the leaf edge.

Exterior cladding and interior finish are specified separately, from ten exterior options spanning veined stone, terracotta, patinated copper and brass, travertine and woodgrains, and ten interior wood and finish options from blonde and white oak through grey and warm walnut. Handles are a range of ten, several of them integrated smart locks combining a full-height bar pull with a keypad, a fingerprint reader or a camera, and individual designs call out their own handle treatments — hexagonal ring pulls, mother-of-pearl knobs, Greek-key bronze work. Coverage is ten years on glass and ten years on non-glass parts, transferable and not prorated.

Mounting and frame options

The frame type decides the rough-opening detail, the flashing and how much of the existing wall has to come out. Four are available; tell us the wall build-up and we will specify which one your opening needs.

New construction
Installation flange, 1/2" (1 3/8" optional)

The standard new-construction frame. The flange laps the sheathing so the unit sets and seals in one operation.

A 1 3/8" flange is available where the cladding build-up needs the extra reach.

Flush fin frame — for stucco

Installs over an existing aluminum window frame, so the stucco exterior is left intact. No cutting back and repatching.

Available on selected window types — ask us which of your openings can take it before you price the stucco work.

Replacement
No-flange frame (drill-through)

For full removal, when the existing frame is rotten or damaged and has to come out entirely.

Sets into the existing rough opening, and arrives with the through-the-jamb holes pre-drilled and the screws supplied.

Galvanized metal straps

Straps fix to the frame, which lets the unit sit anywhere in the depth of the wall cavity rather than at a fixed setback.

Installs from the interior, and works for both new construction and replacement.

Full CAD details for any of these are available on request for your wall assembly.

Factory-joined combinations for large openings

Multi-unit combinations are joined in the factory and delivered as one assembly, so the joint is made under shop conditions instead of on a scaffold. The joining mullion is 1 1/8" (28 mm) wide and comes in three reinforcement grades, chosen by the height of the window it has to carry. The system is covered by a US patent.

Suggested window heightJoint width
up to 9 ft1 1/8" (28 mm)
9 to 11 ft1 1/8" (28 mm)
11 to 13 ft1 1/8" (28 mm)

Combinations arrive partly or fully assembled depending on size and shipping method. Tell us the opening and we will confirm which grade your height needs and how the unit will be split for transport, before you price the crane time.
