Large format glazing

Oversized glazing is limited by three things at once: what the frame can carry, what the hardware can move, and what will physically arrive on site. These are the published maximums for our largest systems, in the units the manufacturer states them in.

The real maximums

These are the manufacturer’s published limits for the systems we supply, not rounded marketing figures. Where a figure is stated per panel it is per panel — a multi-panel opening multiplies the width, not the panel maximum.

What actually limits an oversized unit

Panel weight is usually the binding constraint before glass area is. A lift & slide panel at the 881.8 lb maximum needs hardware rated to move it repeatedly for decades, and a structural opening that will carry it — the frame maximum and the installed reality are not the same number.

The second constraint is delivery. Oversized glass has to reach the site intact and be lifted into place, which is a logistics and site-access question as much as a product one. We quote lead time door to door, so that part is in the number rather than discovered later.

Specifying one

Send the opening schedule with widths, heights and the wall build-up. Every unit is made to your opening and a non-standard size carries no surcharge, so there is no reason to force a large opening into a standard size that does not suit it.

If the elevation also has an energy target or a wind-borne-debris requirement, say so at the same time — those interact with glass thickness and panel weight, and the earlier they are on the table the fewer redesigns they cost.

What is the largest single sliding panel you can supply?

84" × 120" per panel, up to 881.8 lb (400 kg) and 70 sq ft, on the wood-clad lift & slide platform. A multi-panel opening multiplies the overall width; the per-panel maximum stays the same.

Do oversized units cost extra because they are non-standard?

No. Every unit is made to your opening and a non-standard size carries no surcharge. Sizes are confirmed at quotation.

Is the 42 dB figure an STC rating?

No. It is Rw 42 dB, the European rating, recorded in our data explicitly as "not an STC rating". Rw and STC are measured differently and are not interchangeable. If you need an STC number for a US submittal, ask and we will tell you what we can and cannot evidence.
